Sell Services (Third Party Store)

Modified on Fri, 18 Nov, 2022 at 9:40 AM

In addition to physical and digital products, you can sell services in your store. Whether you're giving masterclasses, fixing bikes, or consulting people around the world, you can use the Store to help you establish a customer base, sell services online, and grow your business.

When you add a product to your store, you can uncheck the shipping checkbox to indicate that you are selling a service instead of a physical product. Your items should always include a detailed description of exactly what your buyer receives, how they receive it, and when it will be received.

Add Services

To sell a service on your store, you need to add the service to your product catalog and disable shipping for the service.

To add a service and disable shipping:

  1. In the side panel of the editor, click eCommerce, and then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Catalog, and then click Products.
  3. Click +Add New Product.
  4. Add your service NameDescription, and Image for preview.
  5. Click Shipping & Pickup, and disable the This Product Requires Shipping or Pickup toggle.
  6. At the top of the page, click Save.

Accept Bookings

Accepting bookings is ideal for small businesses or individuals who take appointments such as babysitters, interior decorators, rental services, and others. The booking process can be automated to save time and to avoid unnecessary emails and phone calls. All you have to do is integrate your synced online calendar to your product page.

To accept booking by integrating Google calendar to your product page:

  1. In the side panel of the editor, click eCommerce, and then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Catalog, and then click Products.
  3. Click Edit Product next to the service, and then click Options.
  4. Click +Add New Option.
  5. Type Date for the Option Name, and select Date Picker from the Input Type drop-down.
  6. Click the check box to make the option a Required Option.
  7. (Optional) Click +Add New Option to add a Time option. For time, select Text Field from the Input Type drop-down. Click the check box to make the option a Required Option.
  8. Click General and add your online calendar to the Description. If you have a Google Calendar, for example, get the code for your calendar, click the HTML button <> to paste the calendar code into the product description.
  9. Add a small explanation in the description of the service for your clients on how to make a reservation (let them know they have to check your calendar before they book with you to make sure you are free).
  10. (Optional) If you only have a certain amount of spaces available (for a class for example) you can make the stock level correspond to the number of places you have to offer. The product will state you have no spaces left once the stock reaches zero.

Writing Service Descriptions Best Practices

Service descriptions are critical to defining the scope of work you are delivering to your customer. They should know what they receive, how and when they receive it.

Detailed service description should include:

  • Deliverables. Tell your customers what you will be providing.
  • Timeframe. When are the deliverables received by your customer.
  • Special conditions and limitations. Any special terms and conditions of your service.
