Collect Tips (Third Party Store)

Modified on Fri, 18 Nov, 2022 at 9:55 AM

You can add a tipping option (also known as gratuity) to your store checkout so customers can support your business and express their gratitude for your service. On the payment page, customers will be able to select a tip amount or percentage that you set in the store control panel.

You can configure a custom title and description for the tips section that will suit your goals. For example, you can call this section Tips if you run a restaurant, or call it Donations if you are a non-profit organization.

Configure Tip Options

You can select the type of tipping options: absolute amounts or percentage of the order total, and set up available values for your customers to choose from at checkout.

To set up tipping options:

  1. In the side panel, click eCommerce, and then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Settings, click General, and then click Cart & Checkout.
  3. Scroll to Tips and gratuity, and enable the Tipping option at checkout toggle.
  4. At the top of the page, click Save.
  5. To configure the tip sections, click Tip Settings.
  6. (Optional) Edit the Title and the Description sections.
  7. In the Tip amounts section, select the tip calculation: fixed amounts or percentage of order total.
  8. Add tip amounts that customers will be able to choose from at checkout. To let customers check out with no tips, add a zero tipping option.
  9. At the top of the page, click Save.
Note

If you have taxes configured in your store, taxes are not applied to tips. For example, if a customer wants to add $10 in tips, they will pay $10—taxes are not calculated on the $10.

Change Wording for Tip Options

You can change the text that appears at checkout in the tipping section to specify your goal: collecting tips, collecting donations for a charity, and so on.

To change the tip

  1. In the side panel, click eCommerce, and then click Manage Store.
  2. Click Settings, click General, and then click Cart & Checkout.
  3. Scroll to Tips and gratuity, and click Tip Settings.
  4. In the Tip Wording section, edit the Title and Description.
  5. At the top of the page, click Save.
