Why are the citations in my Google Business Profile Audit report different to those in my Citation Tracker report?

Our Citation Tracker tool is a specialized tool for finding and filtering citations, whereas our Google Business Profile Audit tool reports a broader set of metrics, and doesn’t use such a sophisticated system for finding and filtering citations.

Our Google Business Profile Audit reports are primarily focused on analyzing Google Business Profile data, whilst providing a 'lighter' view of citations at the same time — these reports simply use Google to identify listings, and perform a real-time citation lookup each time the report runs.

Citation Tracker, however, has a far more complex and dedicated process for identifying citations that uses an extended list of searches, APIs, and filters. It stores and reuses citations from one report run to the next, instead of performing a fresh citation lookup each time.
