What are 'Pending Citations'?
These are listings that have been manually submitted to the citation site, but aren't yet ‘Live’ (i.e. they are in a 'Pending' state).
The 'Pending Citations' table is a great way to keep track of ongoing citation work, as pending citations can be moved or added to the table on the 'Pending Citations' tab — this ensures they can be viewed before going live.
Citations must be manually set as 'Pending' (via the 'Competitors Citations' table, or added via the ‘Add Citations’ button) in order to appear in the 'Pending Citations' table.
Once a citation site has been added to the 'Pending Citations' table, the Citation Tracker report will try to find the listing on this site when the report is run. Once the report finds a live listing, the citation site will be automatically moved from the 'Pending Citations' table into the 'Live Citations' table of the report.
How can I add citations to the 'Pending Citations' table?
There are two ways to do this:
1. Move a citation from the 'Competitors Citations' table by following these steps:
On the 'Competitors Citations' table, find the citation you want to set as 'Pending'.
Click the 'Citation Information' icon (the three-dot button). You'll see the 'Update Report' popup appear.
Use the 'Status' dropdown to update the citation's status to 'Pending'.
Click the green 'Update Report' button. You should now find this citation listed on the 'Pending Citations' table.
2. Add a new citation to the report by following these steps:
Simply click the 'Add Citation(s)' button (shown below within the red box) and set the new citation's status as 'Pending'.
Add the new citation URL in the 'Add New Citation' popup, when it appears.
Use the 'Status' dropdown to update the citation's status to 'Pending'.
Click the green 'Add Citation' button.
You should now find this citation listed on the 'Pending Citations' table.
